History
GUILFORD COURTHOUSE NATIONAL MILITARY PARK
(Who knew the second to the last battle of the Revolutionary War was fought here?) This is a great historic site.
The largest, most hotly-contested battle of the Revolutionary War’s Southern Campaign was fought at the small North Carolina backcountry hamlet of Guilford Courthouse. The battle proved to be the highwater mark of British military operations in the Revolutionary War.
TANNENBAM PARK
This park tells the story of everyday life in the back country of North Carolina during the late eighteenth century. The Colonial Heritage Center, the Historic Buildings and the park grounds offer hands-on exhibits, living history presentations and historic trade programs that paint an engaging portrait of the people, artifacts and activity of Colonial America.
OLD SALEM
Old Salem is a historic district of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It features a living history museum (operated by the non-profit Old Salem Museums & Gardens, organized as Old Salem Inc.) that interprets the restored Moravian community. The non-profit organization began its work in 1950, although some private residents had restored buildings earlier. As the Old Salem Historic District, it was declared a National Historic Landmark (NHL) in 1966. The district showcases the culture of the Moravian settlement in North Carolina during the 18th and 19th centuries, communal buildings, churches, houses, and shops.
